Welcome to the Drupal Geoparser Demo site
This site lets you to test out the power of Drupal's Geoparser module.
Geoparsing is the process by which structured geographic locations and their identifiers (eg placenames, lat-long coordinates) are extracted from unstructured content, such as blog posts or articles found in a content management system. The most well-known geoparsing service is Yahoo!'s placemaker, though other services are available. The Drupal Geoparser module provides a service-agnostic interface to geoparsing services.
To feel the power of geoparsing you can create some content on this site - when you save it it'll be passed off to Yahoo!'s Placemaker geoparsing service. As a sanity check you have the ability to select which of the geoparsed placenames you wish to save.
The list of saved places appears at the foot of each article, and each location is displayed over on the map. (powered by Drupal's OpenLayers module)
